Timer

Stopwatches, countdowns, and pomodoros started by typing on any line.

Design intent: Set a subtle but informative timer the moment you realize you need one.

  • Type "timer" at the beginning of a note to see the tutorial.
  • Unlike Keywords, Timer commands can be activated at the beginning of any new line.

Commands

  • timer — Starts a stopwatch
  • timer 3.5 / timer 3:30 — Starts a countdown timer for 3.5 minutes
  • timer 5: Do laundry — Title a countdown timer
  • timer 5 1 — Starts a pomodoro timer with 5 minutes of work and 1 minute of rest
  • timer pomo — Starts a standard pomodoro of 25 mins / 5 mins
  • timer p — Pause / Resume timer
  • timer r — Restart current timer
  • timer s / timer 0 — Stop timer

Notes on titles and controls:

  • Titles can contain colons — the title starts at the first colon that isn't followed by a number, so timer 5: Errands: bank, post office keeps the whole title.
  • You can also click the timer to pause, or double-click it to stop.

Shortcuts

  • Esc (while timer is running) — Stop timer

Settings

  • Pause timer when quitting the app — On | Off
  • Show time left in the menu bar — On | Off (Pseudo Menu or Traditional Menu mode only)
  • When a countdown finishes — Show a notification | Show a full-screen alert | Play a sound
  • When a pomodoro ends — Show a notification | Show a full-screen alert | Play a sound (pomodoros longer than 30 seconds)
  • Alert volume — 0-100% + Test button
