Design intent: Keep a small, fixed set of notes that never expire — without turning Antinote into a permanent note archive.
Antinote has two note spaces:
- Ephemeral notes — the classic Antinote stack you swipe through. They expire, get promoted, and pile up freely.
- Slotted notes — nine permanent slots. Slotted notes never auto-delete, never expire, and can't be deleted or promoted. They're for the handful of notes you always come back to.
Moving between them:
- Press
⌘ + T to swap between your ephemeral stack and your slotted notes (File > Swap Ephemeral vs. Slotted).
- Each slot starts with a note titled after a Greek god — feel free to overwrite them.
- Slotted notes are excluded from Promote, batch edits, and auto-delete. Restoring a note from The Void always brings it back as a regular ephemeral note.
The slot bar
- While viewing slotted notes, a floating bar at the bottom shows nine planets (Mercury through Pluto — hover for the name). Click a planet to jump to that slot.
- The bar fades out after a couple of seconds. Hover near it to bring it back, or turn on "Always show the slotted notes bar" to keep it up.
Split screen
- Press
⌘ + ⇧ + T to show an ephemeral note and a slotted note side by side (File > Toggle Split Screen).
- Turn on "Split horizontally" to stack the two panes on top of each other instead.
